Dear Parent/Guardian:Join us tomorrow, December 8th, for our Holiday Chorus and Jazz Band Concert @ 6:30 pm in the Performing Arts Center. In one week, students will take Semester One End-of-Course Assessments and Final Exams. The state requires assessments in the following content areas:

Math 3
Animal Science 1
Business Essentials
Child Development
Financial Planning 1
Foods & Nutrition 1
Foundations of Health Science
Health Science 1

Testing will take place December 15 - 19. December 15th and 16th will be devoted to EOCs and CTE State Assessments. On December 17th and 18th, teacher-made final exams will be administered, with make-up testing on December 19th, which is a half day.
Exam exemptions are for teacher-made final exams only. For a student to be exempt from a teacher-made exam, they must have 5 or fewer total absences AND an A or B in the class.
Students who do not pass the EOC may take the assessment again during the testing window. This retest will give students another opportunity to show what they know. However, parental/legal guardian permission is required for a student to participate in a retest. Retesting will take place in the regular testing window (Dec 15-19) for Biology, Math 1, and Math 3. Retesting for English 2 will take place within the first 10 days of returning to school in January. If you would like your student to have the opportunity to retest, please complete and sign the form that went home with your student and return it to your child's EOC teacher or Assistant Principal, Mrs. Lea Davis.
Any student who wishes to leave during exam week before 2:40 pm will be required to submit a completed checkout form for each day of exams. These forms will be distributed to students by their teachers. More information will follow as we approach exam time.
Please refer to the Senior Hub for information on upcoming scholarships. If you have not yet joined the Senior Hub, please refer to the QR Code on the flyer in the email version of this message. The Senior Hub provides information on job fairs, scholarships, etc.
After-school tutoring is available Monday through Thursday from 2:45 to 4:45 pm. Academic assistance is also available through RamTime, which is from 7:20 - 8:08 am, Monday through Friday.
The HHS English Department is pleased to announce a School-Wide Writing Contest! Submissions can be poetry and narratives (fiction or nonfiction stories). Poetry must be at least 8 lines and no longer than 2 pages; stories must be 500-1000 words. Typed submissions are due March 5 via email to any English teacher. Clothing Drive
For Veterans Day and as a public service project, HHS will be collecting clothing to donate to the Whistle Stop Thrift Shop on base. The income generated from this thrift shop is used by the Cherry Point Officers Spouses Club for their scholarships and grants. We hope to support their efforts which so frequently benefit our school community.

Havelock High School Clothing Collection Drive September 15th through October 31st. We are accepting gently used, laundered and new shirts, pants, coats, & formal dresses. Please bring donations to the front office of HHS.
