Parent Message
Dear Parent/Student:
We have a very busy week ahead:
On Monday, HHS hosts the annual Academic Awards. Eligible students received emails last week as well as reminders through daily announcements. Please remind your student to check their email for an invitation. The event will be held at 6 pm in the Performing Arts Center.
On Tuesday, May 13th, please join us for the Spring Chorus and Jazz concert. This will take place at 6:30 pm in the Performing Arts Center. Doors open at 6 pm, prelude music by HHS Jazz band at 6:15 pm.
The annual AVID Senior Celebration will be held from 6:00- 7:00 pm this Wednesday, May 14th, in Room 216. We encourage all AVID Seniors and their families to attend.
Also on Wednesday, the FFA Banquet will be held at the Silos in Newport at 6 pm. Please see Ms. Tell if you have any questions.
On Thursday, May 15th, there will be an awards celebration at the Board of Education meeting at 6 pm at Grover C. Fields Middle School, in the Performing Arts Center. Students to be recognized should have received invitations directly from Craven County Schools.
On Friday, EOC testing will take place, along with senior final exams, including State CTE exams. Students taking AP Psychology will also take their exam. Breakfast will be served before school. Students taking EOCs, seniors with final exams and CTE state exams, and those students who have been informed of AP Psych testing will report to school.
We encourage all students to get a good night’s rest and to eat breakfast either at home or at school. Students should spend time reviewing notes and studying for each exam. Students who do not have an exam will receive a 1R for attendance, and this will not count against them. Students who wish to check out right after exams are required to complete a permission form for each day. These forms can be found in the front office. Students who do not check out early will go to the cafeteria following testing until 2:40 pm.
As a reminder, final exams count for 25% of the student’s final grade. Students who receive less than a 50 as a final grade will be reseated in the course.
As we plan for the next school year, we ask that our parents complete a Home Internet Parent Survey. This information will be used to help target areas of need and ensure that all NC students have adequate access to devices and the internet to access learning. Please note that the information gathered will be kept private and confidential.
Graduation will take place on Friday, May 23rd. The stadium gates open at 7:00 am. We advise that you plan to arrive early due to security screening. No bags or stadium seats permitted — please leave all unnecessary items at home or in your vehicle.
Athletics this week:
Tuesday, May 13th: HHS will be hosting the first round of the NCHSAA Men's Lacrosse Playoffs. The game will start at 6 pm, and the gates will open at 5 pm. Tickets will be $7 each.
From the Home of the Rams, we wish all of our Ram Moms a Happy Mother's Day and to all of you, a wonderful week!
Sincerely,
Claudia E. Casey
