Dr. Janice Duffie

"I am Dr. Janice Duffie. I am a native of Pitt County, NC, and a graduate of JH Rose High School. My educational career began 29 years ago. I received my BS degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, MA in Special Education, and School Administration from East Carolina University. In 2021, I received my doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Gardner-Webb University. I have been an educator since 1994. I was an elementary teacher for six years at a private, Christian school, and a middle and high school special teacher for eight years before moving into school administration. I served in the role of Assistant Principal in Pitt County Schools at JH Rose and Farmville Central High Schools for nine years before joining Craven County Schools in 2021.
For the past two years I have enjoyed the opportunity to serve as an Assistant Principal at West Craven High School. I am honored about the experiences and connections I have received from the people, school, and community since being a part of the Eagles family. I appreciate the opportunity to continue to grow as a leader and to be a part of CCS' mission, "to educate all learners to personal, professional, and civic success through challenging and personalized instruction.” I believe that a good education is the foundation for a better tomorrow. I have a very wonderful and supportive husband, and together we have four adult children. I enjoy spending time with my husband and family, serving in the ministry at church, relaxing and binge-watching Netflix, traveling with my husband, and serving in my community with members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc."
